Employment Type: Full-Time

The Merchandising Associate works in conjunction with Retail Operations Management and fellow associates to execute building and logistical accuracy of corporate modules, line reviews and seasonal setup deals.

 

Policy, Procedures, Standards:

  • Work in accordance with Canadian Tire best practices in module set up, customer values, store operations, as well as relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Engage in staff development initiatives to ensure standards are understood and met.
  • Keep current on the material contained within the Policy and Procedures Employee Manual.
  • Follow store health & safety program and observe provincial occupational health & safety regulations; report any observed or potential hazards immediately
  • Participate in All Store Meetings as well as Sunday/Monday morning meetings as required

 

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain professional appearance (uniform, hygiene, grooming & name tag)
  • Ambassador of the store, understand how to effectively hand off customers to Sales Associates
  • Act as support for sales associates as needed 
  • Merchandise aisles, ends, bases, bins, displays and wing panels
  • Merchandise free-hand, and based on planogram
  • Upholding cleanliness and safety standards of shelving and fixtures
  • Update and replace signage
  • Proper file maintenance upon completion of planogram setup or free-hand merchandising, including but not limited to label type and quantity, bin capacity and location 
  • Adhering to label standards upon setup of planogram or free-hand merchandising
  • Maintain fixture room cleanliness and accessibility

Loss Prevention:

  • Be vigilant and alert management of security problems
  • Be aware of loss prevention strategies and associated high theft items
    • Spider wrap, tagging skates, showcases etc.
  • Merchandise according to current set-up. Do not make unilateral changes
    • Loss prevention relies on proper merchandising
  • Follow proper protocol for lock up items, casting tag on cut goods and price checks
  • Following proper protocol for customer pick-ups to prevent theft

 

Performance Reviews:

  • Understand your job description and the required performance standards
  • Participate in annual reviews, surveys and dialogue between merchandising associates, Operations Management and General Manager
  • Evaluated on speed and accuracy as well customer support and cleanliness of the work environment
